Business Up Front is an eighty six page zine that I put together as a thank-you/gift book for friends and associates which only slightly approaches being a promotional item for the things that I do commercially before retreating fully into being a personal comics and sketchbook anthology. Among posters and illustrations are the comics that I’ve done for Vice Magazine‘s website, Meathaus S.O.S., and my pages from both GO FOR THE GOLD! 2 and 3.
The process began with the cover concept: Me in a suit and tie, confidently approaching the universal business hand representing you, coming in for a firm, friendly handshake all while traversing a fog and laser field of treacherous business uncertainty, or techno-futurism, depending on your inclinations. I called friends in from several nearby cities to converge on Jenny Drumgoole‘s studio where a full scale laser fog machine party was launched. It was only thanks to the steady hand and clear thinking of Jenny that I actually did end up with a few shots to choose from, because by the time I put on my suit this thing was going full-on laser:
